Subaxial cervical spine injury classification systems.

چکیده
• The Subaxial Injury Classification (SLIC) and severity scale is recommended as a classification system for spinal cord injury. This system includes morphological, ligamentous, and neurological information in its scoring, thus communicating a greater amount of information regarding the extent of the patient’s injury. Its overall inter-rater reliability has an intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.71. • The Cervical Spine Injury Severity Score (CSISS) is recommended as a classification system for graded instability and fracture patterns in patients with spinal cord injury. Although there is excellent reliability, (intraobserver and interobserver intraclass correlation coefficients for 15 reviewers were 0.977 and 0.883, respectively) the system is somewhat complicated, and its use may be limited to clinical trials rather than daily practice. Reliability of classification systems for subaxial cervical injuries
STUDY DESIGN Interobserver and intraobserver reliabilityObjective: To measure and compare the interobserver and intraobserver reliability of the cervical spine injury severity score (CSISS), the subaxial injury classification (SLIC) and severity scale, and the Allen-Ferguson system in patients with subaxial cervical spine injuries presenting to the emergency department. METHODS Five examine...

STUDY DESIGN The classification system was derived through a literature review and expert opinion of experienced spine surgeons. In addition, a multicenter reliability and validity study of the system was conducted on a collection of trauma cases. OBJECTIVES To define a novel classification system for subaxial cervical spine trauma that conveys information about injury pattern, severity, trea...

STUDY DESIGN This is a retrospective study on patients with traumatic subaxial cervical spondyloptosis and includes a review of the available literature regarding the management of this injury. PURPOSE This study aimed to assess the biomechanics and varied clinical presentations of this rare but devastating injury. OVERVIEW OF LITERATURE This is a case series of three patients and a review ...
متن کاملSubaxial cervical spine injury classification system: is it most appropriate for classifying cervical injury?
The cervical spine injury represents a potential devastating disease with 6% associated in-hospital mortality (Jain et al., 2015). Neurological deterioration ranging from complete spinal cord injury (SCI) to incomplete SCI or single radiculopathy are potential consequences of the blunt trauma over this region. The subaxial cervical spine accounts the vast majority of cervical injuries, making u...
متن کاملLaminar screw fixation in the subaxial cervical spine: A report on three cases
Although laminar screw fixation is often used at the C2 and C7 levels, only few previous case reports have presented the use of laminar screws at the C3-C6 levels. Here, we report a novel fixation method involving the use of practical laminar screws in the subaxial spine. We used laminar screws in the subaxial cervical spine in two cases to prevent vertebral artery injury and in one case to min...
